The Anglican Diocese of Travancore & Cochin which had been in existence since 1879 came to be known as the Diocese of Central Travancore on the formation of the CSI on 27th September, 1947. The Church of South India, inaugurated in September 1947, is the result of the union of churches of varying traditions Anglican, Methodist, Congregational, Presbyterian, and Reformed--in that area.
The first worship service in Atlanta, with Holy Communion was conducted on Sunday June 1, 2003 . Rt. Rev. Thomas Samuel, Bishop of Madhya Kerala Diocese, officially inaugurated and solemnized the church on July 13, 2003 . This is the first Malayalam CSI congregation in Atlanta which is fully constituted under the administration and spiritual leadership of The Bishop of CSI Madhya Kerala Diocese, India.
